RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR: MINI ROAD TRIP

With the New Year comes new adventures for my Boyfriend and I. Deciding to pick up and head on a weekend getaway before heading back to work and school after Winter vacation, a road trip was a perfect idea.

Leaving Saturday headed East, my boyfriend and I went out towards the Cabazon Robotic Dinosaurs and museum. We stopped to snap some shots, walked the area and headed to the museum. Shortly after we ended our stop with a quick trip to the gift shop aka the long neck Dinosaur, If you're getting technical (Apatosaurus). After that we jumped back into the car and onto the road again. After heading into Niland, we arrived at our next destination Salvation Mountain. This being the most anticipated sight to see, Salvation Mountain is a road side attraction created by Leonard Knight and it simply recognizes his faith and love for God. It can be considered a religious monument as the whole mountain and other attributes such as what is called "The Hogan" (when looking at the panoramic, located on the left side) all contain biblical versus and scriptures. Yes, it is allowed to walk up to the top of the mountain which we did, but only within following the yellow brick road. The Hogan which was mention is also passible and in my opinion was probably the most beautiful of all, having so much to see from the museum to the all the perfect spots to snap pictures. After being there for a little over two hours, we made our way into Palm Springs. When we arrived we had dinner at the Kaiser Grille just in time for the early bird three course dinner. Pictured above you'll see the mango and raspberry flavored sorbet and raspberry crème brulee (sorry other courses not pictured) highly recommended if you're ever in the area.

After check out of our hotel Sunday morning, we made our way down to 'Pinocchio in the Desert' one our favorite breakfast spots in Palm Springs! Once we devoured our amazing brunch we walked around the shops and art galleries. Most excitingly we stopped by at a local thrift shop where I found amazing thrifted finds that I'll post soon here on the blog. We were lucky enough to be in town the same day the Palm Springs Vintage Market was also being held. Vintage finds are one of my most favorite things, holding one-of-a-kind treasured gems, what else could be better? That concluded our trip for the weekend, it was a good one and it was a great way to end our Winter break and begin our 2015. Here's to wherever we venture out next...
